VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is an exciting new technology which will soon change computing for the masses. We've been developing 3-D visualization products for Macintosh and Windows for the last five years and are excited about the release of this new product, 3-D Website Builder (3DWB).
This is a demonstration version of the shipping product v.1.1 with Save, Print and several other features disabled. You may, however, create a model of a site and export it simply from the File menu-->Export-->VRML.
3DWB is compatible with current versions (2.0.1+) of Netscape's Live3D as well. If you have questions about rendering with Live3D call their technical support at 914-679-2440.
VERY LIMITED INSTRUCTIONS
Building Your Site
To create a site with 3DWB, simply drag an object (one at a time) from the Gallery of primitive objects (on the left side) into the 2-D gridded area of the Design View (top right window). The object will appear in the Walk View (bottom right window). You may use as many objects as you need and may connect them together, but you MAY NOT OVERLAP THE 3-D OBJECTS. You may edit the object (in the Design View, top right) with the tools that are supplied. Using the Pointer Tool, you may increase/decrease the size of the object. Rotate it using the Rotate Object Tool and inspect it closely using the Zoom-in Tool, etc. Select an object (with the Pointer Tool) and change its color by pressing on the Color Bar and dragging to a desired color. You may also add textures by Selecting an object (with the Pointer Tool) and then touching on the Texture Picker and dragging down to select a desired texture.
Change the Gallery of objects by touching on the Gallery title button (near the top of the left Gallery window) and scroll down until you choose a desired Gallery. There are only 3 Galleries included with this product. The actual product ships with over 1,200 objects!
Several sample files of completed sites are included for you to walk around.
Navigation
Walk around in the 3-D world by using the novice mode navigation buttons along the bottom of the Walk View (bottom window). You may also navigate by using the standard Virtus Navigation. Place your cursor above the cross hair to walk forward, under it to walk backward, right looks right and left looks left. Advanced navigation includes rising up, sinking down, sliding to the left and sliding to the right by holding down the Ctrl key (Windows) and moving the cursor up, down, left and right relative to the center cross hair.
Export to VRML
After creating your site, from the File menu, select Export --> VRML. When the dialog appears, select "Export texture links" and export the file with a *.wrl extension.
